Real Estate Agent's Prayer Adapted

Yesterday the life of a very prominent person in Needham was celebrated.  It was a very nice funeral for sure.  I know the family and it was hard to say goodbye for them but each one spoke eloquently of "Skilky" Eaton  There was a lovely program printed with all the names of all that participated.  These of course were friends as well as family.  It was beautifully orchestrated.  The picture of "Skilky" was great with him holding a fish and looking very proud.  He lived a long, happy and full life.  His son Laurence Eaton is now in charge of the very funeral home that he was buried from.  The Eaton Funeral Home history dates back to 1818.

 1818 - Eaton Funeral Homes www.eatonfuneralhomes.com Needham, MA Carpenter William Eaton opened shop at age 25, built a coffin in 1818, evolved into funerals as a sideline.  His son George (d.1943, as insurance man, also ran funerals part-time.  His son Alger bought the uncle's livery business in 1990, acquired a hearse, and got an embalming license.  Laurence Godfrey Eaton also known as "Skilky" was the fifth generation making his son Laurence the sixth generation in charge.

Reverend Robert Windsor said that "Skilky" had been a "minister of Laughter."  http://hosting-tributes-24098.tributes.com/show/Laurence--Eaton-90516119 There is a slide show here of Skilky and his generations of family.

On the back of the program for Laurence Godfrey Eaton was "The Funeral Director's Prayer."  I think it applies to being a real estate agent all you have to do is take out the last line or replace it with "I am a real estate agent.

The Funeral Director's or the Real Estate Agent's Prayer -

Give me the patience needed to serve everyone as my own; (this prime right here)

The wisdom to understand others' feelings;

The knowledge to learn as well as to instruct.

the kindness to treat everyone equally at all times;

the strength to endure long hours and hard work;

the desire to serve others as I would my own family;

the humility to accept words of thanks and praise;

the compassion to be able to touch another's soul.

The price and the right to smile when I have served a family (or person) well;

And Lord, most importantly,

The right to shed an honest tear when my heart is touched. (in real estate when your clients have found the home they been dreaming of)

Lord, make me thankful that I am "a Real Estate Agent."   Amen edited
