It is Free Museum Day on September 25! All across the United States, museums will be granting FREE access! You may need a "Museum Day Ticket" though.
This is evidently an annual event, that I just read about. You do need to make sure that you have the special pass which many museums will require. Check with your local museum and see if they: 1) are participating, and 2) require the special pass, a Museum Day Ticket, 3) if there are any restrictions on time or numbers of people.
The National Museum Day web site can be found here. Some museums may have a version of their own free day. You can check the museum day website to see if the one you want to go to is listed. If it isn't, contact them anyway and see if they are participating on their own.
If you aren't out looking to buy real estate, go have a fun day at a museum!
The ticket will be emailed to you, so you do have to fill out their online form: Email, Name, Address, City, State, Zip, and which museum you would like to visit from their list of over 1000 museums. You can choose not to receive updates from the email list builder. (I always suggest using a name that includes the site where you signed up so you can track if they really honor the no spam policy. For example, I'd use HMuseumDay Coker as my name).
Also, the pass is often not valid for special exhibits or IMAX film screenings, and each museum may have their own restrictions or limitations.
If you aren't going to a museum that day, come to Cape Cod and buy a house!
